He played for the Chicago Bears in 1948, the New York Bulldogs in 1949, the Detroit Lions from 1950–1958, and the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1958–1962. He became known for The Curse of Bobby Lane. The so-called curse began when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers and declared that his former team, the Detroit Lions, wouldn’t win again for 50 years. The Lions went on to have the worst winning percentage in the NFL for the next five decades.
