Gail Halvorsen was born in Salt Lake City on Sunday, October 10, 1920 (G.I. Generation generation). He is 103 years old and is a Libra. Colonel Gail Seymour “Hal” Halvorsen is a retired career officer and command pilot in the United States Air Force. He is well known as the original Candy Bomber or the “Rosinenbomber” in Germany and a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal. He piloted C-47s and C-54s during the Berlin airlift (“Operation Vittles”) from 1948–1949. As a result of his involvement in the West Berlin Airlift operation, he was given a number of nicknames, including the “Chocolate Flyer” and “Uncle Wiggly Wings.”
Before joining the United States Army Air Corps at the start of World War II, he was a pilot with the U.S. Civil Air Patrol. He later earned an advanced degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Gail Halvorsen is a member of Richest Celebrities and Pilots.
